Today’s events started off at about 6.30 when the last few people from the steering group (including myself) were rudely awoken by Rob going around shouting “GOOD MORNING” right outside of my tent, so before he ended up having to shake my tent apart I got up, and so did others… except a few who then gave him the “look of death” when they eventually came round.
Later on, we had to take down the large marquee which we’d sat in just before and pack it into Scott’s (from Somerset Youth Volunteering Network) large horse box and he drove off as we had to suffer and walk across a field with 2 wheelbarrows (I suppose it was alright for those sitting in the wheelbarrows as we pushed them). The big day has arrived and Revolution is getting started! We’re hoping to have up to 170 volunteers at Killerton, near Exeter, for the first Revolution of 2010.
The sun is shining and we’re all set for a great day of volunteering and live music. We’ll be updating Facebook and Twitter during the day so follow us for all the action.
We’re really pleased to announce that we have a venue for Revolution Inspiration, Revolution’s big weekend! It’s taking place at Montacute House near Yeovil, and we’re working on getting all sorts of exciting activities lined up for you. The date for this amazing event is now 8 – 10 October. Well, Hollie and Sue from Somerset Youth Volunteering Network have been working their socks off over the last few weeks, buzzing about all over the region to pick the best National Trust venues for Revolution 10/11. Over the next week or so we’ll be updating you with all the latest news on where you can join us for the Revolution experience. The first mini-Revolution will be held at National Trust’s Killerton Estate on 3 August. The day will feature lots of volunteering challenges, as well as live music and a barbecue to finish the day off. Stay tuned to find out more details…
