What's it all about?
Revolution 08 will be a free event which is being organised by young people, for young people in conjunction with The National Trust, and the youth volunteering charity, v.

We aim to:
. Get more young people involved & show the world what young people can achieve through volunteering
. Get young people involved in a massive 'Conservation Challenge' in a forest, to restore the forest back to woodland pasture
. hold an environmentally friendly festival, by using fair trade product, recycling waste, and encouraging green transport

Festival Highlights

Friday
Festival gates open from 18h00. Come in and set up camp, enjoy some good food, explore and start getting to know your neighbours!

Saturday morning/afternoon
Get stuck into sorting out the forest - this is your chance to take out your energy on unsuspecting bushes which are choking this beautiful woodland!

Saturday evening
Big Party!! Entertainment and Celebration with live music and activities see website for more info on line-up.

Sunday
Say goodbye to your new friends, as its time to return home!

Who's invited?
The event is for young people aged 16 - 25 who live in the South West.

We want the festival to be as accessible as possible to all young people, that's why it's free - so money is not a barrier to young people attending! If you are an individual or a group of friends or if you work with a group of young people and would like to come as a group - this is the festival for you!

This is also a no alcohol event: this is because of the age range involved, but also because we don't believe you need to have alcohol to hold a great party and have a good time. There are some other basic ground rules - check out the Terms and Conditions section.

Disabled access to Revolution 08: If you or a friend or your group has any special requirements please send us a message and we will get back to you.

How do I register for a ticket?
Groups
You can register for the event as part of the group. A nominated group leader (this could be a youth worker or teacher for example) can submit a booking request to us for their group by going to the signup pages.

Individuals
Please go ahead and sign up. Go to the signup pages to find out how to do it.

NOTE: If you are under 18 years old, you will be asked to submit a parental consent form.

You will receive your ticket as confirmation that you can attend the event, and an information pack will be sent to you at the start of September. Spaces are limited to register ASAP!

Where?
The festival is happening close to Exeter, Devon. When your attendance for the event is confirmed, you will be sent details of how to get to the event. If you want to organise your travel arrangements in advance, we will be doing mini-bus shuttle's from Exeter Bus Station and Exeter St Davids Train Station on the Friday evening and Sunday morning.

There will be a car drop off point, and there is a limited number of parking spaces (parking pass is £10 per car).

Please consider the environment when organising your travel to the event by using public transport or car sharing wherever possible. Groups who wish to come in a minibus or coach, there is no parking pass charge, but please contact asap as space is limited.

How to get there?
We want to encourage greener forms of transport (bus / train / bikes or car sharing) as we all know that this is better for the environment! When you register, please let us know how you plan to get to the event.

By car or minibus: There are a limited number of parking spaces but they need to be booked in advance. If you do plan to travel by car, please try and car share, with 3 or 4 people per vehicle.

By train or bus: to Exeter St David's train station. Please let us know and we will arrange for you to be collected and transported to the festival site.

Coaches: If we have lots of people traveling from a certain area, coaches may be organised. We will let you know by post or email, if something gets organised for the area that you live in. This may still involve a cost, but hopefully will be cheaper than organising your transport individually.

We appreciate that traveling costs money - if you want to come, but transport costs are a problem, perhaps you can get the support of your local council via their youth fund to help cover transport costs.

What will there be to eat?
A fantastic range of local and seasonal food is being provided at the event for you to enjoy with meat and vegetarian options. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements or allergies, as we will do our best to cater to your needs.

If food is what you love, come back to this site closer to the event as we will be updating with details of the caterers and the menu highlights!

Where will I be sleeping?
There are various sleep zones on the festival site where you can set up camp. You will need to bring with you tents and associated equipment (e.g. Sleeping bags and Mats). Once you have registered we will send you a kit list, with some ideas of what you may need to bring with you.

If you don't have a tent and the right equipment, please get in touch with us, and we will see if there is anything we can do to help.

Conservation Challenge
On Saturday day all attendees will take part in a massive "Conservation Challenge" where we hope to clear out a woodland and succeed in doing 2 years worth of work in 1 day! You will be cutting down bushes, and clearing out weeds in a frenzy of activity so we really will be able to see the wood for the trees!

The work involves using hand tools and safety equipment will be provided to all participants. Everyone will receive training and there will be staff on duty through out this activity to ensure people's health and safety.

Participants will need to wear decent shoes /boots or wellies, and old clothing as they might get muddy. It will be a physical but satisfying activity with a real sense of achievement as we return the overgrown woodland back to a woodland pasture habitat.

What facilities will there be?
The festival is happening at an established campsite, to which we are adding additional toilets and showers to ensure everyone can get clean (if they want to!) The site is being split into zones for sleeping /fun / sport etc and will be looked after by National Trust staff and volunteers during the event. There will be onsite first aid available at all times. There is a large marquee where the party will happen, and where food will be provided.
What should I bring?
A kit list for participants will be provided to you after you have registered. A group leader would be expected to bring relevant paperwork or documentation for your group relating to parental consent / medical info etc. If you have signed up as an individual, we will ask for this data before sending you your ticket.
